President’s Message

The High Holy month of St. Patrick is upon us once again.  We formed as a group to march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and promote our Irish heritage.  On Saturday, March 10th, our members did just that at the Ocean County St. Patrick’s Parade in Seaside Hts.  As we marched proudly up the boulevard, our brothers really knew how to work the crowd and get cheers from the thousands of spectators.  So much that some members of the pipe band marching in front of us were turning around to see where all the noise was coming from.  That pipe band of course was the Ocean County Emerald Society Pipes & Drums.  We are again thankful that we could march behind them as they led our club in our second annual parade.  I repeat myself, but once again it was a great day had by all.  Thank you to the Manahawkin Elks for hosting us on parade day.  We met at the Elks in the morning for breakfast before the parade, and returned after the parade for the annual Elks St. Patrick’s Day Party.

The Belmar St. Patrick’s Day Parade was on Sunday, March 4th.  Some of our members marched with the Old Bridge FSOS, and some marched with the Belmar FSOS.  Thank you to our brother clubs for your hospitality.

I also want to thank the owners and staff at Breakers in Waretown.  We held our monthly meeting there on Feb. 26th, and they were gracious hosts.

Finally, I want to wish a Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all our Friendly Sons and their families.

Slainte, Chris Ebert

Seaside St. Patrick’s Parade

On March 10th about 30 members of The Ocean Count FSOS met at the Manahawkin Elks and loaded a bus for Seaside’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  This is every member’s required obligation as per our Charter.  It was our second year as an organization and it was not only successful it was full of laughs and camaraderie.  Congratulations to  Parade Chairman Mike Farrell for not only reminding all members of their duty but also for avoiding all signs that can lead to his downfall.  Another special thanks to VP Kevin Lyons for making breakfast for all our marchers prior to loading the bus.  It was a great day for the Irish and especially for the Ocean County FSOS!
